One of Google's former software engineers has been arrested in the US on charges of allegedly stealing artificial intelligence trade secrets from the company to clandestinely assist two Chinese firms. Linwei Ding, a Chinese national, purportedly appropriated over 500 confidential files. In the event of a conviction, he could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison and fined $250,000 per count.
